Oh, my goodness, this is a pretty little bird, and it posed so nicely for you!! Quite different from our little American Goldfinches (Spinus tristis). I just love the face mask!! Gorgeous capture.
The detail on your shot of the Goldfinch is outstanding. I am always amazing at the colours of some of the birds you post and this one is really spectacular. The photo of the sheep in your blog header is also great I love the little splotches of dye.
I am missing these birds, I used to get a least six on my bird feeders, now I get none and I don't know why. I have niger seed out for them but it has not been touched for weeks:(
Incredible definition there, such detail. Lovely, thank you. These little guys are so special and we get them very rarely. I am thinking of installing a niger seed feeder to tempt them around. Hope all well with grand daughter:)
That is a most beautiful photo, Roy! I think Goldfinches are stunningly exotic looking little birds, they always brighten my garden and I hope I never take their beauty for granted. It is so easy to get complacent with birds we see regularly.
Stunning!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteThat's one superb portrait Roy...[;o)

ReplyDeleteOh, wow, what an incredible bird. We have goldfinches, but they don't have the head markings like that. Beautiful capture.

Roy, what a pretty boy!
ReplyDeleteI think he knows it to Kathie.{:)
ReplyDeleteThey are such attractive birds - mine deserted me for a while when it turned cold but they are back again now.
ReplyDeleteFantastic portrait mate. Crystal sharp.
ReplyDeleteThey are Rowan and we have had quite a few in the area most of the winter, but not in such large flocks as they use to be.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christian.
Fantastic shot Roy, a crisp sharp image, with an unintrusive background. I find small birds a real challenge as they are so hyperactive!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andy.
