Scenes from my latest parkland walk.
Blue skies, mild temperature and green shoots, is spring around the corner?
In just a few days temperatures had risen from about 6 up to 17 celsius.
Getting ever closer to that elusive Kingfisher.
This shot was taken from dense woodland across a river.......
........ a little further down stream from this below.
Not so difficult to photograph though, a Mute Swan.
Another sign maybe that spring is getting closer.
Female Mallard
Reeds - Blowing in the wind.
A variety of cloud patterns in the sky.
Although its not summer, Narrowboat owners still travel along the rivers.
In fact some owners live on their boats permanently.
The alder trees, as well as seeds, are now showing catkins.
Strong winds were making waves on the lakes.

It looks like spring for you! Not here yet...but soon! Now to catch up with your posts. I've been AWOL for almost two weeks.
ReplyDeleteEach one of these photos would make great calendar pages, so crisp and clear and inviting!! What a lovely walk. That kingfisher is so bright, how could you miss it? I've yet to successfully photograph a kingfisher in a natural setting. In all my pictures, they are sitting on the telephone wire!! It stretches along the road in front of my house, right along the waterfront.
ReplyDeleteIt has been great weather and it certainly brought out such rich blues in both the sky and the water in these pictures.
ReplyDeleteHey Roy...The blues in the photos is lovely especially the first few of the water! The Kingfisher looks like a little jewel sitting there : }!
ReplyDeleteI like the blowing reeds , but most I would like to be in one of those Kayak ...I want one so badly!! : { ..have you ever tried Kayaking it is so enjoyable, and good for birding to..well I probably would get to excited and fall out camera and all ; }!!

It was really nice during this walk Kelly, very spring like.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, I just can't get close enough to the kingfisher at the moment.
Thanks Andy, yes some great light which helps.
Not tried Kayaking GG, although I have tried canoes on a couple of occasions in the past.
It's such a change from a couple of weeks ago when I had frost and ice in my beard. Soon the birds will be nesting there! Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, bright sunny series Roy. Swans are lovely aren't they, so regal and serene (sometimes). Nice to seen the KF.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed my photo tour via your site. Awesome. That reeds photo is fantastic. I love it. Happy weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Roy,
ReplyDeleteYes, it`s hard to believe that two weeks ago we were under 5 inches of snow and minus temperatures, the weather is all topsy turvey!

Thanks John. Yes what a change.
ReplyDeleteThanks Christian, yes, but I really need to get closer to the KF one day (Hopefully).
Thanks Rizalenio.
Its looking up now John and more to come from what I read of the forecast.
A great set of images from your walk Roy. It definitely feels like Spring has well and truly got it's foot in the door at the moment, let's hope it stays that way!!
ReplyDeleteCan I see a stunning Kingfisher shot coming up in the not too distant future?...[;o)
Thanks Trevor, if I can get closer, hopefully.
ReplyDeleteWow, the kingfisher's color pops out really is amazing. I have never seen one like that in person. Beautiful photos. Glad your weather is warming up. Is the barge someone's home or a floating vacation for someone?
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn, I'm not sure what that "Narrow Boat" is used for, could be just pleasure but some are used as a home.
ReplyDeleteGreat set Roy. Those Kingfishers are tough to capture.
ReplyDeleteLove the Mallard.
Hi Roy
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post and a real contrast to what we have here for weather. The Kingfisher was spectacular I had not realized yours were so iridescent. Also your banner photo was great.
Thanks
Guy
Thanks Guy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky of you to get the Kingfisher shot! They are hard to catch up with. The color really stands out. Love the swan! The river shots are lovely and I always think they boats look interesting, but not sure I would like to live on one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary.
