The second post about my recent cycle ride.
I photographed large round bales of straw in this field last summer. (Check out my cycle shot in the sidebar)
It has already been prepared for a crop of some kind.
These Daffodils grow on a village green on my route and produce a lovely scene each year.
Its one of my certain stops enroute. I never tire of taking photographs of these lovely flowers.
The floor of this wood is showing the early green shoots of bluebells.
Bluebell Shoots
A Squirrel's 'Drey' used particularly overwinter to good effect.
Squirrels make more than one nest including a permanent 'Den' and move between each one.
This is a crop of Field Beans in the early stage of growth.
This crop is used both for animal feed and to produce and introduce nitrogen back into the soil.
Birds Eye (Common Field-Speedwell) can be found just about anywhere now.......
......... as can the ubiquitous Common Daisy.
On my return route I stopped off to say hello to "Black Beauty" who lives and grazes in a village Orchard.
The road home before entering the edge of the city.
When the Whitethroat returns for the Spring migration from North Africa, I will almost certainly be able to observe pairs of them along these two hedgerows as I have done in the past. They never stay on top of the hedge very long unfortunately and secrete down in the bush chattering away.

Those daffs look beautiful Roy; especially like that first shot.
ReplyDeleteHey Roy...After seen these two post I am very envious ....

ReplyDeleteLooks like Spring is own its way to you. Beautiful daffodils. Winter hit again here in Utah, snow and more snow on the way for the next couple of days.
ReplyDeleteAh, it gives us hope that spring will be arriving soon. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love daffodils, so cheerful and a real sign that Spring is on the way.
ReplyDeleteGreat to find out, that there are others around who prefer to go out by bike rather than using a 4WD.
ReplyDeleteThe light in your pictures !
Reagrds, Sjerp
Spring is already round your corner, Roy, I love the flowers!
ReplyDeleteThe daffs are much more advanced than anything I've seen down this end of the county, Roy. Plenty of buds but no flowers. Great photos as ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith.
ReplyDeleteThanks GG, your seasons are all wrong as well then.
Thanks Trevor.

ReplyDeleteThanks John, yes top of Hill at Castor.
ReplyDeleteThings are beginning to look springlike now Laura out on the bike.
Daffodils are everywhere now including fields of them across the valley. What a lovely collection of photographs here.
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire, I would imagine that your flowers down there are well advanced from ours.
ReplyDeleteBlack Beauty looks lovely. What make is s/he? Looks like a Shire to me, obviously some kind of draught horse. Gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteI think she is more likely a Hunter Sweff.
