A "Misty Morn" was a good way to describe what it was like on my latest Parkland walk.
However, just to brighten things up a little, I have started with a shot of a male Great Tit taken later in the morning which was singing a way in a small tree.
This was the first scene I shot with the sun trying to burn through the atmospheric haze.
Then occasionally the sun would burst through breaks in the mist and haze, which showed up specific areas of the parkland.
The river remained quite hazy for a time.
The gulls and swans are beginning to wake up and conduct a great deal of preening before they get on with their daily activities.
Being in the right place at the right time, two Mute Swans over flew my position, buy which time the sun had come out and the sky was blue.
Another pair of Mutes slowly moving up the river.
A departure from the norm in photographic terms. Using a 50mm 1.4 lens I shot this scene below with unconventional camera settings of 1/4000 at f2.8. ISO400.
The blurred look of the surrounding areas of this Robin photograph below, was caused by surrounding twigs and branches and I aimed the camera through the only little available gap to the subject.

Hey Roy...that is an awesome shot of the Swan in flight !!
ReplyDeleteI really like the misty 2,3,4 shots especially the one with the sun reflection on the water!!
We had 2to3 inches of snow over night and it is now raining..got to love Maine though..we don't' have tornadoes like some of my friends are going through..there are many photos on facebook ..it's awful...I'll shovel snow thank you!!
Grace
beautiful morning for you, Roy. We are flirting with spring, but as I look out the window I can see some snow flurries. Not for long, though - it will warm up here in the next day or so. Bring on the spring!
ReplyDeleteLove the second swan flight shot with the backlit wings. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Robin? Cracking shot.
That middle picture of the Swan flying over is quite magnificent, I feel in awe, and also as if I were there!
ReplyDeleteHi Roy
ReplyDeleteI just love the Robin and the flying swan is beautiful.
Guy
Super set of images Roy, especially the first ones of the early mist over the water. The Mute Swan shots are fantastic but the one of the Robin does it for me, a stunning shot...[;o)
ReplyDeleteI think your right GG, snow is certainly much better. It must be dreadful for people living in those Tornado alleys.
ReplyDeleteYes Wilma its just around the corner. Although its chucking down with rain this morning.
Thanks Keith.
Thanks Sweff.
Thanks Guy.
Thanks Trevor, it was a lucky shot.
Wonderful photos, especially the hazy river ... :0)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos again Roy, the misty shots give a great feeling of peacefulness. I think swans in flight are a beautiful sight and the noise from their wings is a lovely sound too
ReplyDeleteI love those misty shots; always enjoy that kind of morning. But the swan - WOW!
ReplyDeleteThanks Shirl.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan.
Thanks John.
Misty mornings can have an ethereal atmosphere and some of these shots portray this. The robin is always a winner.
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire.
ReplyDeleteSome really nice images Roy, especially the Swan and Robin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike.
ReplyDeleteLove all the shots! The mist has an amazing effect. Great swan and robin!
ReplyDeleteI love those images taken early on with the trees and the lake - so very atmospheric and still decidedly wintry looking.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kathryn.
ReplyDeleteYes, its not over just yet Rowan, I don't think.{:))
Roy, what beautiful scenery! I love that misty morning shot! The first one is perfect and makes me wish I was there sitting on the bank watching the mist clear! Bravo! Oh, and you know we all love your robin shots!
