The Bold Grey Heron

The Grey Heron
With Grey Herons, you can get a little closer to some of them. Usually the adult males are somewhat less concerned about your presence, providing you don't get too close.

This one wanted his photograph taken and didn't fly away very far and landed again several times at such a distance that he could monitor what I was doing. I took a few shots and then left him to his fishing.

    1. Thanks Keith, I think they need to get very mature before they get bold.

I only seem to be able to get close at Ferry Meadows, anywhere else and the bird flies before I even notice it's there!

They can be a bit flighty there sometimes, this one was at the Western end of Gunwade.
